We practically didn't speak in spite of all my attempts to start conversation. Her replies were all mono-syllabic. Of course she did not notice how beautiful and sunny was that spring day. The golden domes of St. Basil's cathedral shined brightly in the spring sun. Irina was a last year student of the Commercial University. She was like many Russian ladies, pretty and slim, with big sad green eyes and blond rather long hair. There was no make-up on her face and she differed a lot from those bright fancy Russian Ladies who sometimes visited the romance socials. It was as if she tried to hide her beauty. She was like a spring flower, broken by a cruel hand. What kind of guy this George could be? I thought.
But I was really amazed when I first saw George. When we entered his hotel room I noticed that he was short, but athletic, with big brown intelligent eyes under glasses. He could not be a playboy! He looked more as a young scientist or a computer guy.
