I spent the whole week with them. In the beginning she did not speak any English, but as time progressed she spoke more and more. I still remember being with them on a Russian boat cruise on the Moskva-river. Gypsies-musicians singing romantic songs, dancing, and making the American guys and Russian ladies dance. Lots of Champagne and Russian ice-cream. Many couples who were dancing on that boat are happily married now. I often think about what happened on that tour and ask myself the question: "how could he know she was going to show up so late and on that last day?"

In fact, he didn't. He was simply very, very lucky. If you ever travel to Russia to meet Russian ladies, please, please, do not rely on fate and don't rely on a lady's initial appearance too heavily. Frequently they dress down, no make up, etc. And, most important of all, don't wait! Don't waste opportunities! You know nothing of a lady's personality until she speaks. And don't lock yourself into a "type", for example: long dark hair, between 5'6" and 5'8" and very slim. This is just too narrow. Beauty is beauty and Russian ladies come in many variations. As an interpreter I have witnessed many Russian ladies match making success stories. But this story was the most improbable. (Belova, Tatyana, Interpreter Moscow, June 2006)
