Russian Fashion Week showed new collections and creations from well known Russian designers. Peloponnesus, Greecehosted the show, which was dominated by light and vivid images and bright summer patterns.
Among the 200 guests who came to see the collections of Russian ladies designers were the Ambassador of Russia to Greece, mayors of the neighboring cities, journalists from local authoritative fashion periodicals, and Greek fashion stars.
The aim of Russian Fashion Week was to promote Russian young designers to the world fashion market and the aim of the young designers was to make business deals. They both succeeded.
The head of the Russian Fashion Week organization committee said that the interest of journalists at the event was to prove that the mission was completed. The young designers improved Russian's image in the fashion world and showed how talented, beautiful, and cultured they are.
Every designer presented ten images inspired by Greek themes and created a mini-collection entitled "The Goddesses of Hellas," which became a tribute to Greek hospitability and inspiration.
For the Russian Fashion Week - Peloponnesus project Russian ladies designers created new images. Some designers showed preference to light dresses in the romantic style, which, in their view, reflected the spirit of Greece. One said, "In some ways a Greek dress looks like a sea web, because for us Russian ladies designers Greece is first of all associated with the sea."
The fashion parade was led by a Russian lady designer, Masha Sharoeva, a constant participant of Russian Fashion Week, who got the best marks from the audience and the fashion professionals. She looks like one with a great potential. Her collection brought the imperceptible aroma of the 21st century and a courageous mixture of basically Russian silhouettes and sophisticated lines of the European modern style. Dresses, shirts and blouses that are made of silk or cotton have original and refined dress cut in a style inherent only to her.
Russian designers' market share in the world is about 1-2% in all segments taking together - from mass appeal to deluxe. It's not much but 5 years ago it was only 0.2-0.3%. It was even useless to invite boutique buyers and big shops to Russian themed Fashion Shows. We see real progress here in Peloponnesus and it suggests that in a couple of years Russian ladies designers will be noticed in the main fashion outlets. But it will take some time.
The organizers of the Russian Fashion Games, the Russian Fashion Week and the Russian Fashion Council, are, as usual, ambitious. They have already visited Delhi, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Prague, Washington, and Paris. They are now holding negotiations with one of the world's most influential Fashion Weeks in New York. This project will require serious organizational efforts and considerable financial investment in order to be realized within one year.
